Stanley M. Pillman - Co-Founder, Manager

Mr. Pillman brings 40 years of experience to Logan Ventures. His areas of expertise include:

  • equity and debt offerings
  • private equity
  • alternative investments
  • insurance
  • asset management strategies

In April 2010 Mr. Pillman founded Addison Asset Management LLC (AAM), an independent Registered Investment Advisory firm working with the trading and capital market desks of major international firms. AAM is affiliated with Fidelity Institutional.

Prior to co-founding Logan Ventures, Mr. Pillman was with UBS Financial Services where he worked with ultra-high net worth clients and family businesses in asset allocation and money manager consulting. He specialized in private equity funds, hedged equity funds used to minimize risk while providing returns between stocks and bonds, alternative investments and core strategies designed to meet client goals and risk tolerance. He provided investment education to business founders, and second and third generations.

Mr. Pillman worked with private equity bankers on direct private placements in technology, health care, systems, consumer products, retail, and transportation while with CIBC Oppenheimer. He educated multi-generational family business clients in asset allocation and alternative investments.

In 1994, Mr. Pillman cofounded the Chicago office of Alex Brown & Sons, where he worked with ultra-high net worth clients and family offices in asset allocation, money management and direct private equity placements. He built a book of business from scratch to become the company's top broker in the country in private equity and hedged equity programs utilizing Gateway Investment Advisors.

Mr. Pillman has a background in the life and health insurance industries, which he used to advantage in setting up his own firm, Pillman & Associates. The firm focused on employee benefits, 401(k) plans, key executive deferred compensation and business and estate planning. The firm’s clients were publicly and privately held companies, ultra-high net worth individuals, and professional athletes. Eight years later, in 1990, the business was sold to Mesirow Financial. Mr. Pillman stayed on and worked with clients to establish specialized 401(k) solutions. He also established a department that liaised with outside money managers and record-keeping firms, initiating a new approach for Mesirow clients and the 401(k) marketplace.
